Contemplating Life after University

Untitled-5

So I’m sitting on the train heading back home to my parents’, in order to pop into London for a job interview and it hit me. Hard.

In less than two months’ time, I will have finished university. The bubble that is my lovely current home town, Aberystwyth will have burst. I will no longer see my Welsh best friends every day. The days of working hard, playing hard, then sleeping in: over.

The fear and trepidation over where I will live, if I’ll get a job are starting to kick in. However I realised after my momentary panic that I will be fine. Categorically, completely, honestly, fine.

I have always been extremely ambitious, seeking out internships from the age of sixteen in the areas I’ve always had a passion for: film, television and advertising. I have bags of energy and heaps of enthusiasm. I’ve been applying to companies that I’d love to work for and have started getting interviews for them: an exciting time!

Looking back at my three years at university, I’ve noticed how much I have grown and matured into my own person. It’s even more noticeable when you see first years and how young they seem in comparison. By no means am I completely there yet in terms of self-discovery, but I certainly feel ready to tackle the big bad world head on.

I’ve come to realise that what will be will be, if you work hard enough, are ambitious and proactive: you will be successful. Everything will fall into place, even if you have to move back in with your parents for a few years, or live with a bunch of strangers.

So, I’m looking forward to this new chapter of my life: meeting new people, building new friendships, being a part of one of the most historic, diverse and amazing cities in the world and climbing my career ladder (wherever I end up!).

Everything is an opportunity and the world is your oyster, so instead of fearing it, grab it with both hands and run!
