The 8 Types of Guy Every Girl Will Meet When Dating

dating

When you’ve been in the dating game for quite some time, you may notice that some guys can fit into certain categories. And we’re not just talking about whether they’re good guys or bad guys. We’re talking about some of the usual archetypes of guys that women may find themselves dating…

The Types of Guy when Dating…

#1 The Romantic

He brings you flowers. He writes you songs and poetry. You feel like his muse, his star, his one true love. Being swept off your feet by a romantic guy is something that our teenage young adult novel-reading selves have always dreamt of.

Yes, he may well be the man of your dreams, but what happens when the romance wears off? The romantic may be enamoured with the idea of being in love. However, he may not be too excited about the prospect of the standard dating stuff like arguing, being too busy to go out on a date or just having a non-romantic run of the mill type of date in a generic restaurant.

#2 The Work-In-Progress

This is the guy who has potential. He’s great at this, that, the other – he just needs an extra push… or three.

The problem with the project is that you’re riding on his potential, instead of who he is right now. Though it’s true that your hard work, your efforts to push him and your patience may pay off, it can be quite exhausting after some time.

#3 The Rich Kid

This is the guy who seems to have it all. This guy is the epitome of class, style, and of course, riches. He’d take you on a spontaneous cruise on his yacht. He’d sweep you off to an exotic vacation spot. He may even shower you with jewels, designer clothes and everything money can buy.

But alas, not everything can be bought by money. The rich guy commonly fits into one of two categories. He may either be a guy who’s spending his inheritance, and has no concept of earning his own money. If that’s not the case, then he may be working so hard to make all this money that he may not have as much time for you.

#4 The Funny Guy

Everyone loves a funny guy. The funny guy always has a witty quip to whip out, whenever things are getting dull. He’ll always have something amusing to say to keep your spirits up when you’re down. He’s clever, tonnes of fun, and usually a huge hit with the crowd.

Funny guys are a winner, but there can also be a downside to them. He may use his jokes as a defence mechanism whenever you want to talk about something serious. That’s quite frustrating, considering that you may not be able to keep yourself from laughing.

#5 The Rebel

He’s the anti-hero of the story, whose dark view of the world makes him wax poetic about you being the only light in his life. He doesn’t trust the government. He doesn’t like the mainstream stuff. He goes his own way, and you’re thrilled that he wants to take you on the ride.

The Rebel’s “my way or the high way” attitude can be a problem during times when he needs to conform to the norms of society. He may insist that a leather jacket and studded boots are fitting for a wedding ceremony. He may constantly be at odds with people who don’t agree with him. Eventually, the Rebel may make the high way seem a little more desirable.

#6 The Perfect Guy

Let’s face it, this guy doesn’t exist. Not to sound cynical, but if you think you’re dating Mr. Perfect, then you probably haven’t known him for long enough or that he’s just creepily talented at hiding his flaws. There is no perfect guy the same way there’s no perfect relationship.

Every relationship has its ups and downs. Every guy you’ll fall for will have a unique flaw. He may not be the sweetest, richest, most intellectual guy you’ll be with. But he just might be…

#7 The Nerd

Today, being called a nerd is a compliment. They know all sorts of things from advanced programming languages to fantasy novels to every physics theory that’s been debunked. You can learn a tonne of new things from The Nerd, and the best part is that he can often be pretty modest about all the cool stuff he’s got in his head!

The nerdy types are often the most interesting people. The only downside we can think of is the fact that their passion for their nerdy pursuits may make them neglect stuff like shopping for an updated wardrobe, eating healthy meals instead of instant noodles, and maybe even a date with you.

#8 The Mumma’s Boy

Boys who love their mothers can be some of the sweetest guys to be dating. Their bond with their mother can be due to the fact that their mums loved them and taught them well. They know how to properly treat a lady.

The only issue about the Mumma’s Boy is that you may feel like you’re constantly competing with his mother. This can be made worse, if the mum thinks that you’re a threat to her hold over her son. Tread lightly because she can be a force to be reckoned with!
