Engaged and Wedding Planning! | General Life Update

I honestly can’t believe how long it’s been since I’ve written a life update on the blog. So much has changed in my life, especially in just 2022.

I’ve started my dream job at the dream company (The house of mouse!), and really started feeling myself again, and in the last month… I’ve become engaged!

Readers, you’ve seen me through ups, downs, the worst times and the best. Over the rollercoaster that was the last 8 years, my blog has been my sanctuary – my place to write out my feelings: on heartbreak, long-distance, dating as a dating blogger, unrequited love, you name it – I’ve written about it.

I’ve come to this blog post, newly refreshed, enjoying my new job so much I don’t feel the need to write my blog as much, and super excited…

On 20th March 2022, Matt, my boyfriend of 7 years (who I’m sure you all know!) asked me to marry him. To say I was surprised was an understatement – although we have lived together the last 5 years, I don’t think I was fully prepared for when it did, in fact, happen. Plus, surely I’m not old enough to be engaged, right?! Where has the time flown!?

It was Matt’s birthday weekend and I treated him to a day out in London, the Natural History Museum and the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition, lunch at our favourite Vietfood on Wardour Street, then dinner at Brasserie Zedel, and drinks at Bar Americain. All this followed by a night walk along the Thames and lovely stay at Indigo Hotel, Leicester Square. The next day we made our way home, and later in the afternoon went on a local walk up Ivinghoe Beacon.

It was a beautiful evening, the sun was setting and he very very nervous before he got down on one knee and popped the question!

So Matt didn’t actually propose with a ring! He knew how fussy I was with jewellery, and how I wanted an antique or second hand ring. A few weeks later (having worn my great-grandmother’s ring as a temporary ring) we visited Hatton Garden and found my dream ring, a vintage diamond cluster, with yellow gold 💍 it was too big for me so it was resized down on the day… and the above image is me finally wearing my engagement ring!

Onto wedding planning and seeing 2022 through! I may not be blogging as much, but I’m still so glad I have my little place on the internet.

Here’s the little video I made for the engagement announcement, showing our journey through the years (and how different we look!)
