Spotlight Interview | Relationship Coach & Sexpert Annabelle Knight

Annabelle Knight is a woman extraordinaire and a personal inspiration.

She’s a certified relationship coach, lifestyle guru, sexpert, TV dating go-to genius, bestselling author AND counsellor to celeb couples… oh, and she’s also the loveliest, most down-to earth person. A powerhouse of a woman, Annabelle kindly agreed to do this interview for Never Settle, answering all my most curious questions, so we can all get to know her a little better…

1. It’s so exciting that you’re a published author, and you’ve been featured on so many popular shows, magazines and programmes – what would you say is your most exciting achievement to date?

Definitely holding my book in my hands for the very first time. I was so amazed that something that had been nothing more than an idea was now a fully fledged book!

2. Did you always know you wanted to become a relationship coach or “sexpert”? How did you get into it?

I have always been interested in the forming, building and maintenance of relationships, I’m a massive softie and simply love, love! It all started at sixteen years old when I chose to do psychology at GCSE and spiralled from there. I’ve also been a long admirer of Tracey Cox, she’s been a huge inspiration for me and has certainly influenced my career choice in many ways.

3. I read back in 2016 that you are happily married, and seen you’ve recently celebrated your anniversary! How did you meet your husband, and do you ever base your work on your own experiences? Are you ever wary about what you say on air or in your writing?

We met on a blind date after being set up by friends and haven’t looked back! My work is completely fictional, although in saying that I definitely draw from people I know or have known for character development. For example, the best friend in my newest book (not out yet) is largely based on my sister. But for the most part no, the scenes and stories in my books are completely fiction, fuelled almost entirely by my imagination, sometimes porn and nearly always by wine!

4. You have your own incredible range of sex toys, which customers can get on Lovehoney.co.uk, what would you suggest for beginner couples or singletons who are eager to explore sex toys but are a bit nervous?

A small vibrator, nothing too complicated or too phallic that can be slipped between partners easily is a great product to go for. As is a vibrating love ring, it’s a stretchy ring that sits at the base of the penis and provides hands free stimulation for both partners.

5. What would you say is the best piece of advice for those who are struggling with dating? What would you say is the best way to meet people in this social-media mad world we live in?

Dating apps and social media are a completely legitimate way to meet people, however it can really push the message of disposability, which I’m not a fan of. For me going out and meeting people organically can’t be beaten. Singles events are, by far, my favourite way to get out into the real world and surround yourself with people looking to meet someone.

6. You’re a certified relationship coach, and have coached many celeb couples – what is the most common issue you come across when counselling couples?

Lack of solid communication is by far the main issue that I see, and for most people they don’t even know it. I’m a firm believer that, for the most part, there isn’t a problem that can’t be solved though communication.

7. For those in long-term relationships, what is your key advice to keep the magic alive, and retain that life long love?

Date nights are by far one of the most useful tools you can employ to keep your relationship on track. Time away from external stressors and spent nurturing your relationship is one of the only ways to keep your relationship in tip top condition.

8. Finally, so I know you’re writing you’re new book (eeek congrats!!), but do you have any other goals or things you’d love to do in the future?

So many! I’d love to have The Endless Autumn adapted for the big screen, so many people tell me it’d make a great movie so that’s something I’d love to happen. I’d also like to do a bit more tv work, it’s something that I really enjoy and it’s always exciting and different every time
