So Friday 12th I won the UK Blog Awards Best Dating Blogger 2019, and honestly I can’t quite believe it. For over 5 years I’ve been working on Never Settle, every week or so, sometimes twice a week, researching and coming up with new content and ideas.
There were many times where I’d ring up friends and say “nobody cares what I’m doing, I’m a laughing stock and an embarrassment”, for it only to take a few days before a stranger or acquaintance send me a “I loved your post… it helped me a lot”… or something along those lines. Those little messages mean the world.
I am so glad I didn’t give up blogging. Even when my heart was breaking or friends were laughing behind my back.
Winning the UK Blog Award isn’t just a happy bi-product of writing my blog, and it’s so much more than just an award. It’s genuine hope and motivation that all your hard work isn’t for nothing. It’s recognition when you’ve lost sight of what you’re doing in life. Winning this award means so much more than people will know or care- for me, it’s a sign that I’ve done something good and have genuinely helped people.
Truth be told, I never started my blog with the intention of writing solely about dating. Actually, Never Settle was founded in 2014, as it’s original conception of “Eve’s Blog” (revolutionary name, right?) six months after I came out of a 4-year toxic relationship. I wanted to write about my newfound issues, my personal dilemmas of Modern Dating, and contribute my little bit to anyone who would listen, of how not to make the same mistakes as me.
Nowadays, Never Settle pushes the latest trends to the forefront of discussion, tackling controversial and taboo subjects head on, and looks to provide a range of outcomes and a way of achieving them, based on a mixture of personal experience and extensive psychological and sociological research.
My blog wasn’t created to complain, gloat or judge anyone, it’s there as a tool for anyone who wants to make themselves happier, better informed and ultimately more confident in their love lives.
Thank you for everyone who has supported Never Settle over the last 5 years. You are everything 💜
A bit late to the party here, but I just want to say big congratulations on the award you got last year Eve! I’ve been gobbling up all your articles this past week after finding you online, and you’ve really helped me find the way through my current breakup. Thank you so much!
