Celebrating love in all its guises; romance, bromance or womance, but above all, the love of film, The Rooftop Film Club presents a lovingly curated May programme filled with cult classics, tear-jerkers and heart-warming must-sees — all screened under the stars…

Love is in the air at Rooftop Film Club, which opens on 1st May, celebrating #RooftopRomance on a sky-high stage. Expect swoon-worthy films, cocktails, and enchanting sunsets. Grab a cosy seat under the stars for two and watch love blossom on and off the screen as Rooftop Film Club returns to three London locations, including the iconic Bussey Building, Peckham. Bring a partner, a friend or a pooch for an evening with some of the most-loved films to hit the big screen.

I was invited along to the Summer launch 2019, to watch the super cute film UP! Luckily we had a really lovely sunset as a backdrop to the film. It’s clear from the outset that this is a great date spot. You get your snuggly blanket, headphones and popcorn and settle down in your seat. There are also love seats which can fit 2 people at the back, which is perfect to cuddle up!

So in the theme of “love”, this year, curtains open with cult classic Pulp Fiction at the Bussey Building, Peckham. On the other side of town, pop along for a fabulous blockbuster sing-along at Roof East and channel your inner Queen (or King) in an epic rendition of ‘We Are The Champions’. The state-of-the-art wireless headphones will allow you to live in this memorable cinematic moment, without being disturbed by other people’s dire singing voices, or even your own! Meanwhile, at Queen of Hoxton everyone’s favourite musical Grease will be screened.

The May programme continues across all venues with an exciting mix of feel-good movies — Pretty Woman, Dirty Dancing, The Breakfast Club and ET, cult classics – Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, The Lost Boys and Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind, and recent award-winners Olivia Coleman’s The Favourite and The Greatest Showman. 13th May is Top Gun Day (yes, that’s a thing), so bring a wingman and fly high on the roof of Queen of Hoxton with a screening of who woulda thunk it…Top Gun, or prepare for a tear jerker on Notebook Day on May 21st with a screening of The Notebook at Bussey Building, Peckham.

While the kings of outdoor cinema sweep film lovers off their feet this season, one must not forget the incredible delectable delights on offer. This year, Rooftop Film Club’s headline sponsor, extrême, will be handing out indulgent ice creams at 150 screenings with additional mouthwatering brand experiences throughout the season.

For the savoury loving foodies, feast on burger and hotdog delectables as Rockadollar returns to Bussey Building, and finally wash down all this yummy food with a cocktail at Bussey Bar.

Rooftop Film Club is the go-to destination to grab a loved one and experience the best sky-high cinema has to offer. Find Rooftop Film Club’s open-air cinematic glory at Bussey Building, Peckham, Roof East, Stratford, and the Queen of Hoxton, Shoreditch.

For the true film aficionado, why not invest? Rooftop Film Club’s classic and cult membership packages provide free tickets, discounted drinks, entrance to ‘Member Mondays’ and much more (full details available here). Also available this year, why not give your loved ones an evening of great films with a Rooftop Film Club digital gift card, a simple online way of sharing your love of film with the ones you care about (full details available here).
