Sleep better now Summer’s here: Simba Hybrid 4.5 Tog Duvet | Review

It’s bad enough as a parent having a disturbed night’s rest, but with the temperature rising, so does your chance of an even more restless sleep… not ideal.

I’m someone who naturally runs warm. Honestly, give me a winter’s day anyway: as soon as temperatures rise past 18 degrees celsius, with every degree, my body starts feeling it. Not to mention if I need to do any physical activity – I start getting hot like I’ve just ran a half marathon. It’s not a good look.

With a nearly one-year-old, sleep isn’t always easy. Parents don’t need the added issue of heat to interrupt their much appreciated (and required) beauty sleep. So, to combat this annual problem, I tried out Simba’s summer duvet: the Hybrid™ 4.5 Tog Duvet.

It promises to be a lightweight, breathable duvet which “delivers instant, tangible ‘cool touch’ technology and optimal heat control” – making it perfect for summer nights or anyone who finds it hard to sleep in the heat – sounds ideal, right?

So how did it fair?

“There’s nothing better than fresh sheets when trying out a new duvet” I said to my husband and I wrapped myself under the folds of softness and snuggled down into bed. We bought some new cotton sheets for our second Wedding Anniversary, so this was a great opportunity to enjoy them. The first thing we both noticed was that the Simba Hybrid duvet does feel very luxurious – it’s like a down feather bedspread with the airiness and puffiness. It rustles as we get ourselves comfy, but that’s okay.

It feels light on the body, but definitely still warm. We always keep a window open as we both prefer to sleep with colder air. According to SImba’s charity partner, The Sleep Charity, around 16-17°C makes for the best sleep quality. The first few nights of trying out the duvet, it was a balmy 21°C – perfect conditions for testing out the lightness of a new summer duvet.

The duvet boasts a 100% cotton top layer and it’s “Stratos® ‘cool-touch’” technology for optimal breathability and heat regulation. We definitely felt the benefit and it has been a really comfortable duvet to sleep under. Our previous duvet felt much more bulky and clumpy and I did have a tendency to get hotter underneath it – so would often kick it off. So far, I haven’t had to do that with the Simba Hybrid.

Of course, only time will tell as we enter the (potentially) much warmer months – let’s hope we don’t see silly temperatures of upwards of thirty degrees! However, so far it’s been a really enjoyable bedtime treat to nestle into after a long day of running around after little feet or a long day at work.

The price is rather high for a duvet, starting at £129 for a single, going up to £229 for a super king size. Having said that, I would put it on a luxury level as opposed to generic. It wouldn’t feel out of place in a luxury hotel and because of that – if you have the money – I’d say it would be worth it, especially if you feel the heat and struggle to sleep as a result.

Overall, the Simba Hybrid is a luxuriously light, airy duvet, perfect for when the weather is warmer.

All opinions are my own. The Simba Hybrid Duvet was gifted to me, and this post is in collaboration with Simba.
