Finding love isn’t always easy, especially if you’re tired of the dating apps and generally “game” of dating.
Today, I’m talking to Amy Ferris, founder of Love Generator and certified matchmaker!
So, Amy, tell me a bit about yourself – what was it that made you get into matchmaking?
I am Amy, I am 36 years old, I have 3 dogs and find humans and dating absolutely fascinating. I wanted to set up a matchmaking business ran by a person who wasn’t married, as I think this gives me the edge on dating as I can relate to my clients. I understand when women in their 30’s come to me how important it is they find someone to settle down with and potentially have a family. I have a lot of male friends, too who will often talk to me about their dating dilemmas and how hard it really is to find a partner in this day and age . So I wanted to do something about it!
I decided to set up Love Generator in the middle of the pandemic as I also run a recruitment company, and it got quiet over lockdown, I have always been fascinated with human behaviour. I thought I am good at recruitment and have been doing this for over 15 years; I love helping people, so this could be my dream to be a matchmaker. So far, I am loving it! I have a passion for really getting to know people, finding out what makes them tick and also helping people see what may hold them back. As a very busy person, who better understands how difficult it can be working hard and trying to find a partner when you are a busy professional than me? Not only that, I have been listening and advising all my girlfriends for years, and they always tell me I give great advice, so I thought let’s put this into practice. I have taken a matchmaking course (i am now a certified matchmaker) and spent lockdown studying the art of matchmaking and human behaviour.
How does Love Generator work? Many of my readers are looking for love and may consider getting on board – Talk me through the process?
At Love Generator, we take our job in finding matches very seriously! This is a dating and matchmaking service who don’t want to be on dating sites, who want their dating life to be kept private and who want to meet truly amazing people who won’t waste their time and, of course who actually want to settle down into a long term committed relationship.

Yes, its so awesome that we are working together, so James is incredible. He is one of the UK’s leading dating coaches who is regularly featured in the press and TV he is truly an expert in what he does. He really changes peoples lives to help them be confident to date. He will work with our clients to coach them to make sure they are date ready and feeling confident. It’s really important that our clients feel ready as there is no point going on dates if you are not going in all guns blazing and the best possible version of yourself.
You run your own recruitment company as well as being a matchmaker, that’s impressive! How do you juggle it all?
Hahaha, thank you, well I love being busy; I can’t sit still. I think recruitment and matchmaking are very similar. One is for jobs, and one is for love, so it’s just adapting. My recruitment company recruits high calibre PA and EA’s working for so Ultra-high network individuals and investment firms, so I feel that working for such busy professionals who need the absolute highest quality Assistants has put me in good stead for matchmaking.
Have you ever been in love?
Yes, I have and also had my heart broken very badly, which hurts a lot. I feel gives me a great understanding of people who have had this happen and want to find a partner but don’t want to get it wrong again. My love life is now private though ;).
How do you think the pandemic has changed dating?
It has totally disrupted dating! Who would have thought we would meet people over video calls or even fall in love with them? Dating has changed so much and resorted back to almost like courting for many, so it has meant that people have really gotten to know each other better and taken their time which is good as rushing into a relationship isn’t always a good idea. Over lockdown, many couples rushed into living together so they could see each other, and I think that has resulted in a lot of relationships either sinking or swimming. There will either be a lot of weddings or a lot of breakups!
Why choose a matchmaker? How can the experience differ from traditional online dating?
So matchmaking and online dating both have their places. The reason to choose a matchmaker is that you have a professional doing the work for you; the people we match you up with aren’t time-wasters. They equally want to find a partner. There is no one hiding behind a screen, no ghosting (that is banned in our agency and totally unacceptable), no standing up on dates. You don’t spend hours scrolling through apps speaking to people who don’t really want to meet. They may just be doing it to pass their time. Also, all people who we work with have to sign a contract to say they are single and will go on dates which I think makes sure that we only have people work with us who are truly serious.
It’s also for people who want to be offline and totally private about dating and don’t want the world to know they are looking for a partner.
There are usually never any guarantees in love, but are there any guarantees which Love Generator provides on the journey of finding that special someone?
There are never any guarantees in love, I am afraid . But we can do everything in our power to try and make it happen. But the magic is down to the date. We really get to know what will suit our clients, and we don’t rush things as love is worth waiting for but believe me when I say we will search high and low to find you your partners!
